The great debate to whether or not healthcare innovation is happening quickly enough may never cease, however, few will argue the idea that the innovation that is taking place in the healthcare industry is being led by technology.
From wearable technology that measures UV and skin temperature to applications that track our diet and exercise, technology and mobile applications are at the forefront of healthcare innovation.
Interestingly enough, video communication is also at the leading edge of healthcare innovation and these improvements go beyond just telemedicine, but to other applications for how healthcare can be better delivered through the utilization of video.
A recent article on AVNetwork reviewed 6 AV technology and applications that are changing healthcare. Of the 6 technologies, the majority had to do with video communication and while telemedicine, as we know it was most certainly part of the list, another way that video could be utilized also made the list. This time it was for training and education.
The use of video being captured and streamed live or on demand is a tremendous way to utilize video to help educate and train experienced surgeons and new physicians on new techniques that can enhance their delivery of care. This transfer of knowledge can help overcome professional shortages and scheduling difficulties as it pertains to continuing education.
What other applications for video do you see out there to continue the innovation in healthcare?
